Ministry: Lectors

Position:  One of a group of lectors who read at the Sunday services and on other special occasions.

Purpose:  To read one of the lessons at the service

Responsibilities:  Lectors alternately read the Old and New Testament readings at services

Qualifications:  Lectors should strive for good delivery by studying the passage(s)

in advance and by practicing phrasing appropriate to meaning. Readers also should strive for good enunciation and appropriate volume.

Amount of Time Required: Lectors usually serve five to six times/year and should allow time to study and prepare a passage.

When Ministry is Performed:  Different lectors participate in each of the three services. Readers usually serve about five to six times/year at the late service, more often at the middle service.  At 8:00, our Chalicists usually read as well as chalice.

Length of Commitment:  Open-ended!
