The music program at St. John's helps the parish community offer
its fullest and best to Almighty God at worship by supporting the
singing of psalms, hymns and canticles and by providing music for
meditation and inspiration. St. John's is blessed by the creative
gifts of Darlene James, the Director of Music, by the careful
preparation of the musicians of our parish, and by a fine organ.
The instrument was built by Fritz Noack and installed in 1963.
Handbells given in memory of parishoners augment our music.
Our fine choir has about 20 members who rehearse on Thursday evenings
at 7 and on Sunday mornings at 9:15. They sing from September through
June on Sundays and feast days, at an annual Interfaith service, and
at a local nursing home.
Services of Choral Evensong are held a few times a year, and we hope
to reestablish a Children’s Choir to sing at occasional services.
Interested singers and instrumentalists are encouraged to speak to
Darlene James.
